This antique L.C. Smith & Corona Typewriter features a family crest decal and "L C Smith" in gold paint across its paper rest, and "8 L.C. Smith & Corona Typewriters Inc., In" is painted across its curved front piece.
Originally built before 1928, it is constructed with an exposed frame, and the elaborate, colorful decal of three horses behind a horseshow with the "LG Smith Bros." maker's mark, an image of the typewriter, and "Established 1903, Made in USA" along the bottom of the crest on the paper rest with just "LC Smith" next to it also dates it to that era. (Models built after 1928 have no crest decal on the paper rest, and are marked differently.)
It could use a good, careful cleaning from knowledgable hands (we're not experts, so we'd hate to damage it), but it's clear that previous owners have taken care of this model, and have made some repairs to it. See photos - one of the bars on the underside of the typewriter has been replaced. But the body is strong, and it would be a rare gem in any typewriter lover's collection!
